During the summer semester 1999, the author participated in a robot contest at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The SmartROB contest's task this year was to collect envelopes in a square area with some walls and gates. The map of the labyrinth was already exactly given before the contest, only the positions of the letters were unknown.
