The third Happy Server Friends community event this far led us into the Rathausstraße 6 in Vienna / Austria. This is the location of the so called Metalab. A place where you can hang around, play with technology, have parties and do all other kind of stuff. It all started... | |

A few days ago, we had a mail on our announcement list. We didn't meet in a lot of months, let's do something together. There's that new project called Metalab. Let's go there, they have their house warming. And it fits to our general Happy Server Friends direction. Some people said yes, other's didn't. All in all, we were 4 Happy Server Friends out of about 10. Finding the place was easy, the Metalab Wiki (German!) is full of useful information. Public Transportation, a map, even the coordinates of the house are available there. |

Even though I didn't know anyone there, I immediately felt comfortable at the Metalab. A lot of it reminds me of the good old Informatik Fachschaft where I spent a lot of time hanging around. I started decorating the room with a nice guy called Flo from Metalab, after that we cut out the new Metalab Logo, you can see it in the Metalab Housewarming Photoalbum. Some time later, the other Flo arrived, we looked around, did a quick interview with Johannes Grenzfurthner from Monochrom (and sometimes FM4), met the wonderful Sonja, looked at an interactive Art installation that interprets what it sees and listened to music from another Happy Server Friend called "Fisch". At the end, we've met Gerlinde Lang from FM4, who did a quick interview about a text-based adventure on a C64. That ended a lovely party. |
Please go ahead and share your thoughts about this with us. Thank you! |
